Position Objective:

Direct the efficient and timely manufacturing of goods, which meet all quality and product design specifications while delivering balanced business results in safety, people, quality, service, speed, and cost key performance indicators (KPI's Ultimate responsibility for plant production and two to three production supervisors. Serve as Interim Plant Manager in the absence of the Vice President of Manufacturing/Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager.

Performance Standards

Regulatory Requirements

Meet or exceed OSHA safety standards.

Maintain superior scores on SQF and/or related food safety audits.

Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.

Production

Direct workflow and processes of production teams through two to three production supervisors

Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

Manages scope proactively to ensure that only what was agreed to be delivered, unless changes are approved through scope management.

Manages and mitigates project risk and ensures the solution is of acceptable quality.

Identify, report and explain production variances and develop action plans to improve production of goods.

Schedule production and labor to meet sales requirements.

Track downtime and coordinate equipment downtime for scheduled maintenance activities with maintenance management.

Process Improvements

Develop and implement action plans to improve department KPI's in safety, people, quality, service, speed and cost.

Manage implementation of technical process innovations.

Provide on-the-floor troubleshooting and coaching skills.

Cross-train worker teams for maximum production flexibility.

Seek and utilize employee input to improve procedures and processes.

Budgeting & Cost Control

Develop and execute yearly production budget for department.

Identify and justify capital projects to help control costs.

Ensure optimum use of available funds, while operating within or better than budgetary guidelines

Identify potential machine failures and coordinate preventive maintenance accordingly.

Practice lean manufacturing techniques where appropriate identifying and improving losses.

Purchasing/Material Resource Planning

Maintain inventories to meet production and customer needs while keeping working capital to a minimum level.

Organizational Capability

Manage and coach production team to solve daily operational issues.

Organize and facilitate daily team and cross functional meetings to improve department KPI's.

Conduct presentations and training programs as needed.

Motivate team members to achieve department KPI goals.

Bachelors degree in science or engineering preferred, and/or Five to Seven (5-7) years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Yeast or fluid processing as well as packaging experience preferred.

Five to seven (5-7) years' experience in a management role in a manufacturing plant environment, including direct supervisory reporting responsibilities.

Food Safety/HACCP/GMP training.

Demonstrated people and leadership skills with track record of achieving positive business results the right way.

Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills.

Ability to give/receive constructive feedback.

Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization and problem solving skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent PC skills in Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.

Budgeting and cost control experience.
